Chosen Ones

As a former Foster Care social worker and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I, Amy, am very passionate about the people of God stepping in to care for orphans and families who are in need. I have seen firsthand the extensive need that lies within our communities and the desire children have to belong to a family. That is a desire that our Creator has formed deep within all of us and what a privilege it is for The Church to be a part of his plan. He has placed a deep respect within me for those who bring children into their home in order to care for them and love them. It is not easy, yet so close to the heart of God. My passion for Chosen Ones comes from the deepest place within me where I have been loved by a compassionate Savior who has accepted me into His family. He has given me new life, strength and purpose. As a young family going though the process of learning what it is to raise children and seek God’s will for our lives while serving Him, we wrestle with the reality that because we have been given so much, how can we not be moved by what Christ has done for us… to the point of following His command to love orphans? Yet what does that look like for our family? What would this look like in our church and how would it change our community? It is our prayer that God would continue to develop our hearts for the orphan and that others would be compelled to do the same.
We are super excited to be involved in the Chosen Ones Ministry. We currently have three kids Raider (17), Haylie (5), and James (3). Ever since we first got married we had always discussed the possibility that we would someday like to be foster parents. It wasn’t until five years after we were married that we dipped our toes in the water and called a foster family agency to find out more information. Three weeks later we had an eleven year old boy named Raider living with us and within 10 months of that original call we had adopted him and had just given birth to a brand new baby girl. We should clarify that the speed of the process that we went through is not the typical timing that most people experience. We like to tell people we had twins that year, just that one of them was 5ft tall and 100 pounds. Anyways, going through that process and seeing the lack of churches represented in this area really impacted us and put it on our hearts to do what we could to connect the Christian churches to the care for the orphans in our own community. We would be happy to tell you about our experience and we are looking forward to where God takes the Chosen Ones Ministry. James 1:27 |
